Russian universities admit 666 students from the breakaway Donetsk People’s Republic

Officials in the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic, one of Ukraine’s two separatist enclaves, have announced that 666 individuals from its territory have been admitted to 11 different universities and colleges in Russia. The majority of these students will be attending Bauman Moscow State Technical University, Southern Federal University, and Don State Technical University.

Earlier, Russia’s Minister of Education, Dmitry Livanov, confirmed that Russian universities would accept applications from students in Ukraine’s breakaway republics, citing an existing agreement with Kiev.

The Donetsk People’s Republic says it plans to integrate its education system more closely with Russia’s and those of other nations formerly in the Soviet Union.
