Vladimir Putin endorses a 4-billion-dollar Disneyland clone on Moscow's outskirts

Vladimir Putin has endorsed a $4-billion project to build an amusement park modeled on Disneyland on the outskirts of Moscow. It will be called “The Magical World of Russia” and it's designed to feature the largest water park in the world.

In a meeting with the president, Kaluga Governor Anatoly Artamonov described the project as a “kind of Disneyland” that would offer families a chance to relax and have fun. Explaining how big the park will be, the governor told Putin, “You could practically take a trip inside the complex, where there will be lots to learn about Russia and about the rest of the world.”

The amusement park's anticipated construction costs are roughly $4 billion. The Magical World of Russia will not require any state funding, Governor Artamonov told Putin.

“Investors aren't asking for any state involvement. They just would like to be sure that this project has the government's approval. We, of course [in the Kaluga oblast government], gave our approval. And if you give your support, then they'll have even more confidence,” Artamonov told the president.
