Lady Luck's Russian highway adventures

Before he was addressing empty chairs to promote failed Republican presidential candidates, Clint Eastwood played Harry Callahan in the 1971 action thriller “Dirty Harry.” In one of that film's most memorable scenes, the actor points a .44 Magnum at a bank robber, warns him that he may or may not be out of ammunition, and then asks the man if he “feels lucky.”

Russia's roads aren't quite as precarious as a loaded pistol in your face, but there are moments when it's just as deadly. Thankfully, the nation's mean streets also seem to have a supply of luck that rivals what you typically see only in Hollywood movies.
