GTA Kursk City: taking the beloved, violent video game to Russia’s streets
The Kursk-based advertising studio “Puzzle” has released a series of videos parodying the video game GTA: San Andreas, depicting its events in the Russian city of Kursk.
Two of the three videos released directly replay missions from the game (including CJ’s return to “Kursk City” and participation in a fight, and fulfilling orders to steal a go-kart). The sound in the videos is taken directly from GTA: San Andreas, and the subtitles onscreen mimic the machine-translated subtitles that appeared on pirated copies of the game, which are widespread in Russia.
Before releasing these reenactments, “Puzzle” previously made public a video parodying the gameplay of GTA, where its actors mimicked the movements of characters while fighting, stealing cars, and running along a building while facing its wall.
