The first day of ‘summer’ Feast your eyes on Siberia’s frosty June 1st

Source: Meduza

It’s June 1 around the world today, but Russians waking up in cities across Siberia—Surgut, Noyabrsk, Novy Urengoy, and others—were greeted by anything but summer. Their windows were frosted with snow, and in some places several feet of the stuff was piled fresh outside. In Noyabrsk, buildings switched their heating systems back on. Some of Russia’s more western cities are also expected to get some of this wintry June weather. Meduza invites readers from the already sweltering parts of the world to find some solace in photos from Siberia’s still-snowy streets.
