During the afternoon of August 10, solo-demonstrators picketed outside of the Belarusian Embassy in Moscow, demanding the release of Russian journalists arrested while covering last night’s protests in Belarus. Among the detainees are “Daily Storm” journalists Anton Strakov and Dmitry Lasenko, “Sputnik Belarus” correspondent Evgeny Oleynik, “RT” war correspondent Semyon Pegov, and “Meduza” special correspondent Maxim Solopov. “Meduza” has been unable to contact Solopov for more than 12 hours: his whereabouts have been unknown since he was beaten up and presumably arrested by police in Minsk last night. Police officers in Moscow have collected the personal information of the activists protesting outside of the Belarusian Embassy, but have otherwise refrained from interfering with the demonstrations.
