Yandex said a drone strike hit its data center in Kaluga.

In a statement obtained by Meduza, Yandex said “several modules of the data center have been completely disabled.” Some Yandex services may experience disruptions as a result, the company warned, adding that the full scope of the damage has yet to be determined.

Yandex also published a statement thanking its partners “for their patience and cooperation” and users “for their understanding.” It singled out employees who, it said, “are doing everything possible, day and night, to keep services running and help those affected by the incident,” adding:

“We continue to assess the state of the infrastructure. It is very difficult at this point to give a timeline for restoring equipment operations at the data centers.”

Yandex shares fell about 4% on the Moscow Exchange after news of the second strike on its data centers in two days.

Overnight on October 8, Ukrainian forces struck Yandex’s data center with drones in the city of Sasovo, in the Ryazan region. A fire broke out, and although no one was injured, the data center temporarily halted operations. Disruptions affected some of Yandex’s own services, along with those of companies that relied on its infrastructure in Sasovo, including the websites of the Russian state rail operator Russian Railways, the Russian mobile operator MegaFon, and several Russian media outlets.

On October 9, Kaluga Governor Vladislav Shapsha said Ukrainian drones struck the regional capital and several municipal districts. He said nine people were injured in Kaluga but did not specify which facilities had been targeted.
