A massive Ukrainian drone strike killed one person and injured six others in the Moscow region, Governor Andrei Vorobyov said.
The victim was a 20-year-old resident of the village of Radumlya in the Solnechnogorsk district. Residents of Istra and the Volokolamsk and Domodedovo districts were also injured, and three of them are hospitalized.
In Istra, 10 private homes were damaged in Safontyevo, Torlopovo, Gorki, and Yadromino, along with outbuildings and two cars. In Domodedovo, a private home caught fire in the village of Lobanovo, and another was destroyed in Barybino.
Citing photos and videos from witnesses, Ukrainian monitoring Telegram channels (1,2), as well as the independent Telegram channel Astra, claimed that a fire broke out at the linear production and dispatching station (LPDS) “Volodarskaya” in the Moscow region. Open sources describe it as the largest oil depot in the Moscow region, as well as a key node for supplying petroleum products to Moscow and the surrounding region. The LPDS is part of JSC “AK Transnefteprodukt.” Local authorities have not reported the fire.
In all, air defense forces and electronic warfare systems destroyed 185 Ukrainian drones over the Moscow region, Vorobyov said. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said 650 drones began flying toward the city and the region on the evening of October 5, and air defenses shot down a large share of them “at distant approaches.” Air defenses destroyed 105 of the drones on approach to Moscow. Sobyanin later said air defenses had shot down another 29 Ukrainian drones flying toward Moscow.
