Russian military deserter kills and dismembers three women
A Russian man who had deserted his military unit killed three women in the Nizhny Novgorod region.
According to the regional branch of Russia’s Investigative Committee, the man killed his partner on October 3 during a conflict in the village of Neklyudovo, striking her in the head several times with a tire iron. He then drove to Nizhny Novgorod and told the woman’s mother and daughter what had happened. They were planning to go to the police, so he killed them as well.
The man then dismembered the bodies, placed the remains in bags, and rented a van to transport them into the woods. Traffic police stopped the van for an inspection en route. “Suitcases, backpacks, bags, and totes were found in the back. The driver explained that these were his passenger’s personal belongings. The passenger got nervous and then suddenly ran from the police officers, but was detained,” said Internal Affairs Ministry spokesperson Irina Volk.
According to the Telegram channel 112, the victims were ages 47, 77, and 18.
The Investigative Committee and the Internal Affairs Ministry did not specify the circumstances under which the man deserted or whether he had fought in the war in Ukraine.
