Munition falls near Moldovan checkpoint on border with Ukraine, injures border guard
A munition fell near the Palanca border crossing on Moldova’s border with Ukraine on the morning of October 5, ricocheting into a scheduled bus parked at the checkpoint barrier and into the border control booth. A border police officer sustained a minor injury, the Moldovan outlet TV8 reported.
The “Palanca–Maiaky–Udobne” border crossing has been temporarily closed, halting traffic in the area. Vehicles headed to the border are being rerouted to the Tudora crossing.
Moldovan media reported that the munition fell amid an escalation of Russian strikes on Ukraine’s border territory, but did not specify who the ordnance might have belonged to.
