Russian drone hits Kyiv school while children and teachers shelter inside, mayor says
Russia’s armed forces launched new drone strikes on Ukrainian cities. A Russian drone hit a school building in Kyiv’s Solomianskyi district, Mayor Vitali Klitschko said. The children and teachers were in a shelter at the time of the attack and were unharmed, he said.
The overnight drone attack on October 1 also started a fire on the first floor of a 16-story apartment building in the Solomianskyi district. Cars parked near the building caught fire as well. Klitschko said a drone strike also started a fire at warehouses in the Obolonskyi district. Ukraine’s State Emergency Service said one person was injured.
In Odesa, an office building was hit overnight on October 1. Local authorities said one person was injured. Serhiy Lysak, who heads Odesa’s city military administration, also said the Russian attack had “damaged infrastructure” in the city but gave no details.
