Ukrainian man attacks people with knife at Polish monastery, killing two and injuring three

A 31-year-old Ukrainian citizen attacked people with a knife on the grounds of a Benedictine sisters’ monastery in Jarosław, a city in southern Poland’s Subcarpathian Voivodeship.

Anna Długosz, a spokesperson for the police headquarters in Jarosław, said the attacker stabbed four men and a woman. Two of the men have since died of their wounds, and another is in critical condition, according to the latest reports. All of the wounded men are clergy; the woman’s identity remains unknown.

Police detained the attacker. The district prosecutor’s office in Przemyśl said the weapon was likely a kitchen knife. The motives for the attack remain unknown.
