Anastasia Kashevarova, a pro-war propagandist and Z-blogger, said an acquaintance of hers received a notice that he had been added to the military registration rolls shortly after casting a ballot through Russia’s remote electronic voting system.

The man got the notice the day after he voted, she said. Kashevarova did not say where he lives or when any of this happened.

Kashevarova said the document is not a summons to the military enlistment office, but that “they couldn’t have picked a worse time for this.” “Why are you doing this? You’re creating a panic right in the middle of the elections. Who’s sitting there deciding to tell people who voted online that they’ve been put on the military registration rolls?” she said.

The authorities have already “said over and over that there won’t be another mobilization” and are “actively urging people to come out and vote,” she said. “But somebody decided to notify the guys who voted that they’d been added to the military registry. Use your heads once in a while. Why are you stirring things up? The situation is tense enough as it is.”

Whether the online voting and the military registration are connected is unclear. According to the outlet Agentstvo, a Moscow resident also received a military registration notice after voting in the State Duma elections through the remote system on September 18.

Elections at various levels, including for State Duma deputies, are being held in Russia on September 18–20.
