Russia’s election commission says ruling party United Russia leads in single-member districts and party-list vote, putting it on track for another ‘constitutional majority’

United Russia has 57.82% of the party-list vote so far, according to Central Election Commission data as of the morning of September 21, with 83.52% of precinct reports processed.

The Communist Party is in second place with 13.84%, followed by the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR) with 8.77% and New People with 7.07%. Preliminary results show A Just Russia falling just short of the 5% threshold, with 4.99%.

The commission’s data also show United Russia candidates leading in 208 of the 225 single-member districts. Communist Party candidates are ahead in five districts, and A Just Russia candidates and independents lead in four each. LDPR candidates are ahead in two districts, and a Rodina candidate leads in one.

Preliminary results suggest that United Russia is on track for a constitutional majority in the State Duma, which requires 301 seats.

Based on the current party-list results, United Russia would receive about 130 seats, Interfax noted. Its candidates are also leading in 208 single-member districts. The party would also receive additional seats when mandates are redistributed among parties that cleared the threshold.

The State Duma has 450 seats. Half are filled through the party-list vote and half through voting in single-member districts.
