Russian strike in Kyiv injures 16, including two children. Drone damages residential building in Odesa.
Russian forces launched missile and drone strikes across Ukraine overnight on September 17, damaging warehouses, office buildings, and multistory residential buildings in Kyiv, according to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko.
Ukraine’s State Emergency Service announced that 16 people were injured, including children ages 10 and 12. Most of the injured were residents of a 16-story apartment building hit by a drone in the Dniprovskyi District, the Ukrainian news outlet Ukrainska Pravda reported.
In Odesa, Russian strikes damaged a 19-story building and injured six people, including two children, according to Serhii Lysak, head of the city’s military administration.
Russia’s Defense Ministry claimed the overnight strikes “struck metallurgical and radio-electronic industry facilities, Ukraine’s defense industry enterprises, and energy and transportation infrastructure facilities in Kyiv, Zaporizhzhia, and the Odesa region, as well as naval vessels operating in the interests of Ukraine’s armed forces.”
