Washington Capitals star Alexander Ovechkin joined a campaign video for United Russia ahead of the country’s September parliamentary elections. He appeared in a video centered on Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

United Russia has launched a series of campaign videos showing the leading candidates on its party list with their supporters. The group photo also includes RT editor-in-chief Margarita Simonyan; Vyacheslav Nikonov, first deputy chair of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs; Sergei Krikalev, a deputy director general at Roscosmos; actor Vladimir Mashkov; singer Tatyana Kurtukova; and others.

Russia’s State Duma elections will be held from September 18 to 20, 2026.
