U.S. Attorney General Todd Blanche said New York prosecutors had charged several Russian nationals who worked for Russian intelligence. Blanche disclosed the charges at a White House briefing, according to ABC News.

The Russian nationals were charged with financing terrorism and conspiring to commit murders around the world. Blanche said the defendants had planned to kill a “Russian dissident” they believed was in Washington.

Blanche did not identify the defendants or say which Russian opposition figure was allegedly targeted or when the alleged assassination plot was being prepared.
