Trump claims Moscow and Kyiv agreed to an energy ceasefire, but Zelensky says Ukraine will halt its strikes only if partners secure a genuine Russian commitment
Ukraine will halt strikes on Russian energy facilities if its partners can secure a “genuine” commitment from Russia not to retaliate against Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said.
Zelensky said Kyiv had asked its partners — likely referring to the United States — to “secure an agreement with Russia that would stop the destruction of critical infrastructure,” including food supplies and energy facilities. Ukraine, however, is “not convinced that Russia is willing to abide by any agreement.”
If our partners are ready to ensure that Russia genuinely refrains from striking our electricity system, other energy facilities, critical infrastructure, and food supply routes, then, of course, we are ready to ensure a corresponding halt to our strikes.

Today, he said Russia and Ukraine had agreed not to strike each other’s energy infrastructure. Trump provided no details about the agreement. Moscow has yet to comment on his statement.
