A Russian drone washed up on a Baltic Sea beach in Rusinowo, near the Polish town of Jarosławiec, Poland’s Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz said.

“A preliminary inspection indicates that this is a Russian military drone. Emergency services are working at the scene,” the minister said.

Poland’s Armed Forces Operational Command stated that its systems had detected no violations of national airspace since July 31.

“Therefore, at this time, this incident cannot be linked to any attack by the Russian Federation,” the Polish news outlet PolsatNews quoted command spokesperson Jacek Goryszewski as saying.

Russian forces attacked a gas station near the Yahodyn border crossing and a passenger train on the Kyiv-Warsaw railway line with drones overnight on September 13. Two people were injured in the strike on the gas station, Suspilne reported. No one was hurt in the strike on the train.

Afterward, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that “escalation on the part of the Russian Federation is becoming a fact, and its examples are getting closer and closer to our [Polish] border.” In the coming weeks and months, the Polish prime minister believes, Russia will try to intensify its actions in Ukraine. “We cannot rule out, unfortunately, that this escalation will also affect our territory,” he said.
