Ukrainian drones struck the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug for the first time, Governor Dmitry Artyukhov said.

A fire broke out at an industrial facility in Novy Urengoy after drone “debris falling” struck the site, but no one was killed or injured.

Artem Zhoga, the presidential envoy to the Urals, said a Ukrainian drone had tried to strike a fuel and energy facility in Yamal.

Novy Urengoy lies about 2,800 kilometers (1,740 miles) from the Ukrainian border.

Ukraine’s armed forces have launched their deepest strike inside Russia to date, with drones reaching a region that produces 80% of the country’s natural gas for the first time, reported the independent Russian investigative outlet Agentstvo.
