Russian strike on Ukraine’s Odesa damages residential buildings, killing one and injuring several
Russian forces launched a massive overnight strike on civilian infrastructure in Odesa and the Odesa region on September 4, local authorities said.
In one of Odesa’s districts, residential buildings and vehicles were damaged. Ukraine’s State Emergency Service specified that a nine-story building was hit, destroying apartments on the sixth through eighth floors and damaging neighboring buildings. One person was killed and three others were injured.
Russian drones also struck private homes, destroying two of them, and damaged a nonresidential building along with private and service vehicles. A civilian and a child were injured.
Russian forces have targeted Odesa and the Odesa region since the start of the full-scale war, with the region coming under near-daily attack in recent months. Russia’s Defense Ministry claims the strikes target infrastructure, including ports and warehouses linked to the Ukrainian military, while Odesa authorities report hits on civilian infrastructure and residential buildings.
