Ukrainian drones struck Tatarstan on the morning of August 20, Russia’s Interfax news agency reported, citing the press service of Tatarstan Head Rustam Minnikhanov.

The attack caused “disruptions in the operation of an industrial cluster” and damaged residential buildings, officials said, without specifying which city was affected. Authorities reported casualties but gave no exact figure.

According to the statement, most of the drones targeted Tatarstan’s Zakamsk economic zone. The press service said coordinated efforts by mobile teams and the region’s air defense system made it possible “to avoid casualties and serious damage.”

The independent Telegram channel Astra had earlier reported that drones were striking Nizhnekamsk, whose industrial zone houses the Taneco oil refining complex and other enterprises.

An August 10 Ukrainian drone attack on Nizhnekamsk killed 13 people, including citizens of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.
