Russian vaccine maker expands dog vaccine recall to four batches, claiming possible sabotage

The Moscow-based company Vetbiokhim has urged dog owners and veterinarians not to use four batches of its Multikan vaccines.

The advisory covers two batches of Multikan-8 (No. 20 and No. 21) and two batches of Multikan-6 (No. 11 and No. 12), all of which expire in January and February 2028.

The company attributed its decision to “suspicion of possible organized destructive interference by hostile third parties,” as well as an additional inspection now underway.

A day earlier, Vetbiokhim recalled only batch No. 20 of Multikan-8. That recall came amid reports of large numbers of dogs dying after vaccination. Most of those reports came from the Yaroslavl region. The regional prosecutor’s office and the local branch of Rosselkhoznadzor — Russia’s Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance — have since launched an inspection of the manufacturer.
