Russian tech company VK posted quarterly profit for first time in over three years
Russia’s VK holding company posted a net profit of 328 million rubles for the second quarter of 2026, the company said in a press release. It was VK’s first profitable quarter since the end of 2022, according to the Russian business daily Vedomosti.
The company closed the first half of the year with a loss of 3.85 billion rubles, more than three times smaller than its loss over the same period the previous year.
Analysts polled by the newspaper said the sale of VK’s stake in Tochka bank was what pushed the company into a quarterly profit. By their calculations, VK earned 3.53 billion rubles on the deal, of which 3.5 billion went toward covering losses, with the remainder counted as net profit.
A VK representative said the deal’s effect was “insignificant,” adding that the company’s revenue grew thanks to increased operational efficiency and lower costs.
The sale of a 25% stake in Tochka, a Russian bank, closed in April, when Vladimir Potanin’s company Interros bought the stake for 21.2 billion rubles. The billionaire’s structures now own 89% of the bank, with the remaining 11% belonging to 1C.
