Russian advertisers cut ad spending on Wildberries after Ukraine’s strikes on warehouses, Kommersant reports

Advertising activity on Wildberries has “noticeably declined” following Ukrainian drone attacks on the marketplace’s warehouses, sources at major advertising agencies told the Russian business daily Kommersant.

The analytics service Digital Budget found that spending on direct banner advertising dropped 63% in July compared to June.

A source at one of the largest advertising groups said that in a number of categories, advertisers in July either completely froze their advertising budgets on the platform or “significantly cut investment.”

Wildberries told Kommersant that “some change in the volume of advertising and promotion tools used is understandable,” but insisted its scale has been greatly exaggerated. “Under current conditions, sellers are reviewing their business models to assess the impact on their business,” the marketplace stated.

Kommersant noted that marketplaces have become “one of the largest advertising channels” over the past several years. According to the Association for the Development of Interactive Advertising, the digital retail media segment became one of the key drivers of the advertising market in 2025.

A source who spoke to the newspaper said demand for advertising at Ozon has not changed.
