Amid fuel shortages, Russia starts receiving gasoline from India

Russia has received its first shipment of gasoline from India, the Bloomberg news agency reported, citing data from the Kpler service.

The shipment arrived on August 5 from Nayara Energy, an Indian oil refinery in which Rosneft holds a stake.

According to Bloomberg, the tanker Cyclone loaded about 42,000 tons of fuel on June 18 for the shipment. The cargo was transferred to another vessel near the Egyptian port of Damietta in July before reaching Russia in early August.

The Reuters news agency reported in early July that Russia had begun buying gasoline from India amid a fuel crisis, citing sources who said at least 60,000 tons had already been sent. An industry source told the agency Russia plans to import a total of 400,000 tons of gasoline per month from various countries.

India is one of the largest buyers of Russian oil. In June, Russian oil exports to India reached a record 2.7 million barrels per day, accounting for more than half of India’s total oil imports.
