Russia’s Supreme Court removes nation’s only antiwar party from upcoming parliamentary race
Russia’s Supreme Court has removed the Yabloko party from the race for the State Duma, the lower house of parliament. The ruling came after Judge Vyacheslav Kirillov granted a lawsuit filed by lawyers for the Rodina party.
Yabloko officials say the party will appeal the ruling.

The Rodina party’s lawsuit sought to remove Yabloko from the ballot, arguing that its campaign materials violated copyright and used “extremist” slogans.
During the hearing, a representative of the Central Election Commission also cited data from Russia’s Federal Financial Monitoring Service (Rosfinmonitoring) showing that Yabloko receives foreign funding. Yabloko attributed this to the sale of foreign shares, which the party is legally required to divest before elections.
