Rybakov also rejected claims that Yabloko paid for the pro-party videos circulating on social media:
We don’t pay anything to the young people who make videos in our support and who came to the Supreme Court today. They support us simply because they want to live in Russia and not be killed. I don’t know how to explain that to the plaintiffs.
Russia’s Prosecutor General’s Office, for its part, backed the Rodina party’s lawsuit against Yabloko. A representative of the agency said there were grounds to believe the party had violated copyright law and asked the court to cancel Yabloko’s registration for the elections — a request the court has now granted.
