Ukrainian drones struck Nizhnekamsk on the morning of August 10, the independent Telegram channel Astra reported, citing local residents. Nizhnekamsk Mayor Radmir Belyaev said a drone threat was declared at 5:30 a.m. but gave no further details.
Tatarstan authorities soon confirmed the attack, saying industrial and civilian facilities had been hit. Their statement mentioned fatalities but gave no death toll.
The Ukrainian Telegram channels Supernova+ and Exilenova+ said the drones targeted an oil refinery, publishing video of the resulting fire in Nizhnekamsk.
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said air defenses began shooting down drones approaching the Russian capital on the evening of August 9, destroying 23 in total.
Governor Yuri Slyusar said more than 70 Ukrainian drones were shot down overnight over the Rostov region, including over Kamensk-Shakhtinsky and seven districts of the region.
Kaluga Governor Vladislav Shapsha said 16 drones were shot down over the region overnight, with no damage or casualties reported.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported that air defense forces destroyed or intercepted 456 Ukrainian drones overnight, downing them over the Bryansk, Kursk, Kaluga, Tula, Belgorod, Oryol, Voronezh, Rostov, Penza, Ulyanovsk, Saratov, Orenburg, and Samara regions, as well as the Moscow region, Krasnodar Krai, the Republic of Tatarstan, and occupied Crimea.
