Reuters: Drones just knocked out one of Russia’s biggest refineries — for the second time this year

Rosneft has suspended operations at its Ryazan refinery after Ukrainian drones struck the facility on July 29, Reuters reported, citing sources.

The outage “will last about two weeks,” the agency’s sources said.

The Ryazan refinery, one of the largest in Russia, processed 13.1 million tons of crude oil in 2024, accounting for 4.9% of the country’s total refining capacity.

Along with plants in Yaroslavl and in Kstovo — the latter in the Nizhny Novgorod region — the Ryazan refinery supplies gasoline to the Moscow region.

The refinery also suspended operations in mid-May for repairs that took more than two months.
