The Moscow-based group of companies “Energoprof” fired its sales director, Yekaterina Remizova, for violating trade secrecy rules. Among other things, the company was unhappy that she had uploaded internal reports to the Chinese chatbot DeepSeek.

Remizova challenged her dismissal in court, arguing that the company had produced no evidence of a leaked trade secret and that the grounds for her firing were unlawful. She also sought a five-million-ruble “golden parachute” payment stipulated in her employment contract. She did not deny uploading documents to a chat with the neural network.

Case materials show that Remizova had worked at the company since April 2025. That September, Energoprof disciplined her and then fired her for disclosing information protected as a trade secret.

In court, the company stated that Remizova had violated its rules for handling confidential information. Beyond using DeepSeek, the case materials show, she forwarded internal documents and correspondence to her personal email and told a supplier about the company’s plans to launch its own generator brand, prompting the supplier to end its cooperation.

The company also accused Remizova of violating its contract approval process with the industrial company “Alabuga Machinery”, saying she substituted terms in the signed contract text.

The court partially granted Remizova’s claim, overturning one of the disciplinary orders and ordering Energoprof to pay her 10,000 rubles in compensation for emotional distress.
