Montenegro will introduce a visa requirement for Russian citizens, the government announced in a press release published on its website July 27.

Starting November 1, Russians will need visas to enter Montenegro.

Citizens of Belarus, China, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia will also be required to obtain visas under the new rules. Montenegro’s government said the changes are meant to bring its visa policy in line with European Union norms.

Russian citizens will be exempt from the new visa requirement if they already hold a visa or residency permit for a European Union or Schengen Area country, the United States, Canada, Japan, the United Kingdom, Australia, or New Zealand.

Until November 1, Russians can still enter Montenegro without a visa and stay for up to 30 days.
