Ukrainian drones strike Moscow region, injuring several; oil depot in Podolsk and warehouse in Domodedovo catch fire
Ukrainian drones struck the Moscow region overnight on July 20, Moscow region Governor Andrei Vorobyov said. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said more than 400 drones flew toward the region, with a large portion shot down at long range and another 85 intercepted on approach to Moscow.
In Odintsovo, a car and a private home were damaged, Vorobyov said. Drones coming down in Podolsk sparked fires and damaged several civilian infrastructure facilities, which the governor did not identify. A private home was also damaged in the village of Maloye Tolbino.
The independent Telegram channel Astra, drawing on published videos and photographs, reports that an oil depot in Podolsk was struck and is burning. A warehouse at the Yuzhnyye Vrata industrial complex in Domodedovo is also on fire. A drone also hit a multi-story residential building in Domodedovo.
Residents of the village of Koledino in the Podolsk urban district reported a fire at a Wildberries logistics center. The company’s press service said the warehouse was operating normally. An evacuation had been carried out earlier as a precaution, but employees had since returned to their posts.
One person was injured in Domodedovo in a fire at a private home, and another was hurt on the M-4 highway after a drone came down near a vehicle, Vorobyov said.
Update. Domodedovo urban district head Evgenia Khrustaleva confirmed that the drone attack had caused a fire at the Yuzhnyye Vrata industrial park and that a drone had struck a multi-story residential building on Kuryzhova Street. She said two people had been injured, then later clarified that six were being treated at Domodedovo Hospital.
