Russia strikes Kyiv for the second time in a week, killing two and wounding six

Russian forces struck Kyiv with missiles in the early hours of July 16, the head of the city’s military administration, Tymur Tkachenko, reported. The attack killed two people and wounded six others, including a 16-year-old, Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko said.

Two districts were hit, Ukraine’s State Emergency Service said. In the Darnytskyi district, fires broke out in a nonresidential building, in nearby parked trucks and at a warehouse. In the Sviatoshynskyi district, a warehouse caught fire after being hit. All the fires have since been extinguished.

Russia’s Defense Ministry said its forces had struck military-industrial facilities in Kyiv, as well as ports and two vessels in the Odesa region.

The July 16 attack was the second on Kyiv in the past week. The previous strike came on July 14.
