Russia’s Higher School of Economics to offer free tuition to members of the BARS combat reserve and drone troops who serve a year under contract
Moscow’s Higher School of Economics will cover tuition for anyone who completes a year of service in a BARS volunteer unit or in Russia’s drone forces, the country’s state news agency TASS reported, citing the university’s press service. The offer is open only to applicants who sign the one-year “special contract” through the university itself, which confirmed the terms to the Telegram news channel Ostorozhno Novosti.
Under the offer, an applicant applies to the university and signs a contract with a BARS volunteer unit or the drone forces. The university enrolls the applicant in a continuing education program immediately after signing, and moves the student to a bachelor’s or master’s program once the contract ends.
The university said the option would also suit applicants who miss a state-funded place (the tuition-free seats awarded on exam scores) by a few points.
