Education officials to make philosophy, history, and ‘Fundamentals of Russian Statehood’ mandatory for all university students

Source: TASS

Russia’s Science and Higher Education Minister Valery Falkov has announced that four subjects will become mandatory for all university students: Russian language, philosophy, history, and “Fundamentals of Russian Statehood.”

Falkov stressed that the subjects would be studied “by all students without exception, regardless of their future profession and regardless of the mode or level of their studies.” He did not say when the change would take effect.

The course “Fundamentals of Russian Statehood,” developed under the direction of the political bloc of Russia’s presidential administration, was introduced at select Russian universities in 2023. Meduza’s sources in the Kremlin said its main goal is to turn students into a “patriotic intelligentsia.”
