Ukrainian forces struck Russian oil refining facilities, attacked tankers in the Taganrog Bay, and hit a military airfield in the early hours of July 8.

A drone strike set fire to an oil refinery in Saratov, according to the independent Telegram channel Astra and the Ukrainian monitoring Telegram channel Exilenova+. The regional governor, Roman Busargin, said one person was killed and several others injured. He said civilian infrastructure had been damaged but did not specify what.

Drones also struck the industrial zone of Nizhnekamsk in Tatarstan, home to the Nizhnekamskneftekhim plant and the TAIF-NK oil refining complex. Witnesses posted photos and videos showing a fire in the industrial zone. Tatarstan authorities confirmed the attack but gave no information on casualties or damage.

Two tankers traveling to Rostov-on-Don were damaged by Ukrainian drones in the Taganrog Bay, regional governor Yury Slyusar said. Both vessels were empty. Two crew members sustained minor injuries, and the crew of one tanker was evacuated.

In the Voronezh region, a fire broke out at the Borisoglebsk military airfield, the Telegram channel Astra reported. Local authorities confirmed that an air raid alert had been declared in Borisoglebsk following a Ukrainian drone attack.

Russia’s Defense Ministry announced that air defense systems shot down 415 Ukrainian drones over Russian territory overnight on July 8.
