Russia says drone carrying ‘simulated improvised explosive device’ landed on its embassy grounds in Sweden

The Russian Embassy in Sweden said on July 2 that a drone had dropped a container of red paint onto its grounds. A second drone landed on the same grounds carrying what the embassy described as “a simulated improvised explosive device.”

“This last detail suggests that we are dealing not merely with a provocation, but with a brazen attempt to intimidate staff at the Russian mission. We will say plainly: it won’t work,” the embassy said.

The embassy added that “such incidents have taken on a systematic character in Stockholm.”
