Source: Oleg Melnichenko

A Ukrainian drone was shot down over the Penza region on the morning of July 1, and its debris damaged power lines and landed on an unfinished building, Penza Governor Oleg Melnichenko said. There were no casualties.

About an hour later, Melnichenko reported that an air raid alert had been declared across the region. The consequences of that attack are not yet known.

Ukrainian Telegram channels are reporting that the Mayak factory in Penza was struck. The Telegram channel Supernova+ describes it as a defense enterprise specializing in the production of radio-electronic equipment, control instruments, communications systems, and military hardware. The website of a factory by that name in Penza states that it is Russia’s oldest enterprise producing paper and cardboard.
