Police in Russia cite four Irkutsk residents for reselling gasoline at inflated prices
Police in Russia’s Irkutsk region cited four local residents for attempting to resell gasoline at inflated prices, the regional Interior Affairs Ministry said.
The citations were issued under an administrative provision covering commercial activity conducted without state registration or a special permit. Three of the four were selling fuel online; the fourth was operating near a gas station.
One of the violators, a 20-year-old local resident, had posted a listing online offering fuel at 250 rubles per liter. Investigators responded to the listing and showed up to complete the transaction. The Interior Affairs Ministry provided no details about the other three cases.
The previous day, Igor Kobzev announced that Irkutsk Oblast was entering a state of high alert to prevent the fuel crisis from escalating into an emergency. Kobzev also instructed the regional branches of the Interior Ministry and the Russian National Guard to “maintain public order in gas station lines” and said authorities should crack down on attempts to sell fuel “in violation of the law.”
