Italian PM responds to Russian propagandist Solovyov’s ‘fascist creature’ insult; Russia’s ambassador summoned

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has fired back at Russian propagandist Vladimir Solovyov after he called her a “fascist creature” on his “Solovev Live” channel and said that betrayal is her middle name — she betrayed Trump, to whom she had previously pledged her loyalty.

Meloni wrote on X that a rabid regime propagandist cannot by nature give lessons in either consistency or freedom, and added that unlike others, Italy has no strings attached, no masters, and takes no orders.

Russia’s ambassador to Italy, Alexei Paramonov, was summoned to Italy’s Foreign Ministry over the remarks. Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said the ambassador would receive a formal protest.

Paramonov said he was baffled by being summoned to the Foreign Ministry over the words of a well-known Russian journalist, however talented and popular, spoken on his own private online channel, the Russian state news agency TASS reported.
