Moscow bar worker faces criminal case for placing Easter bread under hookah bowl
Russia’s Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case against a Moscow bar employee for “offending the religious feelings of believers” after she placed an Easter bread loaf beneath a hookah bowl and posted photos and video of the setup on social media.
She captioned the post: “Even Christ would rise again after this.”
In the video, she can be heard telling colleagues that the customer had requested the hookah be set up that way and had gone out to buy the bread himself.
The Investigative Committee stated that the woman has been identified and will be brought in for questioning shortly. She faces up to one year in prison.
Russia added the offense of “offending the religious feelings of believers” to its criminal code in 2013, following the Pussy Riot performance at the Cathedral of Christ the Savior.
