Russia has transferred the bodies of 1,000 fallen Ukrainian servicemembers to Ukraine, State Duma deputy Shamsail Saraliyev, a member of the parliamentary coordination group on the ”special military operation,” told the Russian business news outlet RBC. Ukraine returned the bodies of 41 fallen Russian servicemembers, he said.

The Russian state news agency TASS also reported the exchange, citing a source, without providing further details.

Ukraine’s Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War had not commented on the exchange at the time of publication.

The previous exchange of bodies between Russia and Ukraine, on February 26, was reported by Kremlin aide Vladimir Medinsky. At the time, Russia transferred the bodies of 1,000 fallen Ukrainian servicemembers, while Ukraine returned the bodies of 35 fallen Russian servicemembers.
