Drone debris fell near a “major enterprise” in the Belorechensky District of Russia’s Krasnodar Krai overnight, sparking a fire, according to the regional emergency task force.

The blaze covered about 50 square meters (roughly 540 square feet) and was “quickly extinguished,” officials said. About 140 employees were evacuated to a “protective shelter,” and no one was injured.

The task force did not identify the enterprise.

The Ukrainian Telegram channels Exilenova+ and Supernova+ reported that the target of the drone strike was EuroChem’s Belorechensk Mineral Fertilizers plant. The facility produces mineral fertilizers, a range of phosphorus-based products, and sulfuric acid.

The Telegram channel Astra, citing local residents, said that traffic had been blocked near the plant.

Belorechensk Mineral Fertilizers is the largest industrial enterprise in southern Russia, employing about 900 people.

According to a Reuters investigation, since the start of the full-scale war five major Russian chemical companies have supplied more than 75 percent of the key chemicals for plants producing explosives and gunpowder, delivered by rail. EuroChem, founded by Andrey Melnichenko, was among them. The company itself has claimed it is not part of Russia’s defense sector and that its products are not intended for military use.
