Russian singer Yaroslav Dronov, better known by his stage name Shaman, claims to have given pro-conservative activist Ekaterina Mizulina, head of the censorship advocacy organization Safe Internet League, a political party for her birthday.

Shaman revealed the gift in a video posted to Telegram. Filmed outdoors, the clip opens with him saying he’s in a “beautiful Russian forest,” where he plans to present the gift. He then leads Mizulina to an enormous box tied with a bow in the colors of the Russian flag. The box’s panels fall open to reveal white, blue, and red balloons and a black logo styled as the word “We” (“Мы” in Russian).

“Katya, I’m giving you something nobody has even given anyone before. I’m giving you a party. And our party will be called ‘We,’” Shaman says. The two then hold hands in front of the gift as music plays. The video ends there.

Shaman didn’t provide any details about the new party or its platform. Mizulina shared the clip on her own Telegram channel with the caption “Hard at work” and a heart emoji in Russian flag colors, but did not provide further explanation.

Registering a political party in Russia requires holding a founding congress and publishing an announcement in the country’s official newspaper of record, Rossiyskaya Gazeta, which Shaman has not done.
