Drone-sparked forest fire near ‘Putin’s palace’ extinguished after four days
A forest fire that broke out Wednesday night about 10 kilometers (six miles) from the Russian president’s seaside mansion known as “Putin’s palace” was extinguished on Sunday. According to Krasnodar Governor Veniamin Kondratyev, more than 500 people battled the blaze over four days, using around 100 pieces of equipment, including two Mi-8 helicopters.
The fire was sparked on the morning of August 28 when a Ukrainian drone crashed near the village of Krinitsa. The blaze trapped more than 20 people along the shore, all of whom were evacuated.
