Two teenagers in Russia’s Novosibirsk have been charged with attempting to kill a serviceman on orders from Ukrainian intelligence, according to Russian investigators. The pair allegedly tried to apply poison to the soldier’s car.

Investigators said the teenagers received “three containers of dangerous chemical substances” from Ukrainian intelligence services. Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) claimed the chemicals “cause acute heart failure and may be fatal,” though it did not specify which substances were used. The poison was reportedly applied to the car’s door handle and side mirror.

The name of the targeted serviceman has not been disclosed. According to the FSB, the teenagers found the assignment on a website offering “quick money” and were promised payment for carrying it out.

The suspects were arrested on July 28. A statement from the court’s press office said the attempted murder took place on July 24. Both suspects are 16 years old. No other details about them have been released.

They have been charged with attempted murder of a person in connection with their official duties.
