Russian forces launched an overnight drone and missile strike on Kyiv, hitting a residential building and killing at least six people, according to Mayor Vitali Klitschko.
In the city’s Sviatoshynskyi district, the strike destroyed part of a nine-story apartment building. Emergency crews are working at the site, as people may still be trapped beneath the rubble, said Tymur Tkachenko, head of Kyiv’s military administration. Damage was also reported in the Solomianskyi, Holosiivskyi, and Shevchenkivskyi districts.
Klitschko said 48 people were injured, 29 of whom were hospitalized. Tkachenko confirmed six deaths: four in the Sviatoshynskyi district and two in Solomianskyi. Among the victims was a six-year-old boy. According to Tkachenko, 52 people were injured, with nearly 30 requiring hospitalization.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky posted a video showing the aftermath of the strike, captioning it: “Kyiv. Missile strike. A direct hit on a residential building. People are trapped under the rubble. All emergency services are on the scene. Russian terrorists.”
