On Monday, the TV network France 24 aired footage from surveillance cameras installed at the restaurant in Kryvyi Rih that was struck by a Russian missile three days earlier.

While Moscow claims the restaurant was targeted because “Ukrainian unit commanders and Western instructors” were supposedly meeting to discuss the war, the surveillance footage shows no soldiers. Additionally, investigative journalists at the Sistema Project reported that a forum for beauty industry professionals had concluded at the same restaurant just 30 minutes before the Russian missile strike.

A France 24 correspondent spoke with two hospitalized women who were in the restaurant at the time of the attack. They confirmed they had been attending the beauty forum.

The April 4 strike in Kryvyi Rih killed at least 20 people, nearly half of them children. Several dozen others were injured.
