North Korea to send reinforcements to Russia’s Kursk region within two months — NYT
North Korea will send reinforcements to join its troops fighting alongside Russia against Ukraine in the next two months, The New York Times reported on Wednesday, citing a senior U.S. Department of Defense official.
The source did not provide further details.
The BBC, citing Western officials, reports that as of mid-January, North Korean forces in Russia’s Kursk region had suffered around 4,000 casualties, including approximately 1,000 soldiers killed.
South Korea’s National Intelligence Service has said that at least 300 North Korean soldiers fighting alongside Russian forces have been killed and that around 2,700 have been injured.
Ukraine and South Korea have reported that North Korea sent more than 10,000 troops to Russia.
